Goat hair is one of the most resilient natural fibres in the world. Coban rugs are naturally lanolin-rich, creating a protective moisture barrier that enhances stain resistance and aids longevity.

With natural colours that do not fade, Coban rugs age the way good things should — slowly, gracefully, gaining character with every year on the floor.

These were originally made as dowry pieces, passed from mother to daughter as cherished possessions. That tradition is at the heart of everything we make. When you commission a Coban rug, you are not buying a floor covering. You are beginning a piece of your family’s history.

The Source

From the mountain to the floor

Our yarn comes from cashmere goats that roam freely across mountain pastures, living exactly as nature intended. Twice a year — in May and June, when the seasons shift — they are shorn by hand in a process that is entirely sustainable and causes the animals no harm. The fibre is simply gathered; nothing is taken that would not naturally be shed. Up to ten percent of every Coban rug is pure cashmere, woven invisibly into the structure of the piece — lending it a quiet softness beneath the resilience of the goat hair, felt more than seen.
